Shuka Shawarma-Spiced Brussels Sprouts

These Brussels sprouts pack an incredible flavor punch.  A special shwarma seasoning, delicious white sauce, an herby zhoug, and a splash of citrus provide the perfect topping for peak season Brussels. Please note that this dish includes all the ingredients and sauces you will need for the recipe, but there is a limited amount prep work that needs to be completed such as halving the Brussels sprouts before roasting. This dish was a special holiday collaboration between Shuka and OurHarvest.

Ingredients
  • 1 Kit Shuka Shawarma-Spiced Brussels Sprouts
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 F
  2. Pour sesame seeds into a small bowl. Zest the lemon and stir to combine. Set aside.
  3. Halve brussels sprouts, if desired. Place brussels sprouts in a bowl. Add ¼ cup olive oil, salt, and the shawarma spice. Toss to coat thoroughly.
  4. Pour the coated brussels spouts onto a foil-lined baking tray. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until desired doneness. Remove from oven. Cut zested lemon in half and squeeze juice over the hot brussels sprouts, being careful to catch the pits.
  5. Choose your serving platter. Spread white sauce on the tray. Next, spoon the cooked brussels sprouts on top of the white sauce.
  6. Drizzle zhoug on top of the brussels sprouts. Sprinkle with sesame seed mixture. Pick the herbs and sprinkle over the dish.
  7. Find the soundtrack to your feast on Spotify: Ayesha’s Falafel, a specially curated mix of songs to set a celebratory vibe (optional). Enjoy!
